IGNORANT AMERICAN (SM002)

Recorded between 2000 and 2002 in Washington DC, the debut outing from Ignorant American is a collection of 17 eclectic pieces that address such diverse musical terrain as surf, electronica, hardcore, blues, contemporary composition and improvisation. The group is led by guitarist/composer Anthony Pirog and features drummer Dan Sharnoff and cellist Janel Leppin as core members. Ignorant American is at times raw and frenetic and at other times graceful and polished yet is always able to maintain a lyrical interplay between its members and compositional inner structures. The accessibility that this work exudes is sure to draw listeners of all interests in while the unpredictable turns that the music takes will never allow one emotion or feeling to linger for too long.
